Renault South Africa has officially unveiled the new-generation Duster, bringing a reimagined SUV that stays true to its adventurous roots while introducing upgraded design, technology, comfort and safety. Built on Renault Group’s new modular platform and aimed at modern explorers, the new Duster combines its established off-road capability with a more sophisticated feature set, reinforcing its position as one of the more compelling options in its segment. First introduced to South Africa in 2013, the Duster has built a reputation as a trusted companion for motorists tackling both city streets and more adventurous routes.

The new Duster adopts Renault’s latest design language, creating a stronger road presence through a distinctive front grille featuring a prominent DUSTER nameplate, muscular bodywork and robust front and rear skid plates. Signature LED lighting, a horizontal rear light bar and 18-inch alloy wheels on selected derivatives round out its more striking appearance. The result is a vehicle that retains the authenticity and sharpness that made the previous Duster a success, while introducing a more premium and contemporary look both inside and out.

Inside, the transformation is immediately apparent. The cabin is built around a driver-centric cockpit featuring dual OpenR Link displays, an elevated centre console and premium materials. Depending on specification, customers can enjoy ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats, a panoramic sunroof, automatic dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting and an electric-powered tailgate.

Practicality has also been prioritised, with boot capacity of up to 518 litres, extending to as much as 1,789 litres with the rear seats folded, making the new Duster well suited to both everyday life and weekend escapes.

At the centre of the cabin sits a 10.1-inch OpenR Link infotainment system, featuring wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity and additional call features controlled through the infotainment system. Higher specification derivatives add a 10.25-inch digital driver display, wireless smartphone charging and an elevated audio experience.

A multi-sense driving system allows drivers to personalise their journey through a choice of driving modes and steering settings, tailoring the driving experience to different roads and different adventures.

The new Duster range offers a choice of efficient turbocharged petrol engines, balancing performance with fuel efficiency. The range opens with a 74 kW 1.0-litre turbocharged engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission, while customers wanting more performance can opt for the 116 kW 1.3-litre turbocharged engine, available with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed EDC automatic transmission featuring an e-shifter and paddle shifters on selected derivatives.

With up to 260 Nm of torque, 212 mm of ground clearance and a suspension setup engineered for comfort and durability, the new Duster remains well suited to a wide variety of South African road conditions.

Every Duster derivative comes standard with six airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Tyre Pressure Monitoring and a rear-view camera. High-specification models extend this further with up to 17 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Keep Assist, Active Emergency Braking, Driver Attention Alert, Front, Rear and Side Parking Assist, a 360-Degree Around View Camera and Automatic High/Low Beam Assist, adding confidence whether navigating city traffic or exploring beyond it.

The new Renault Duster is available in five derivatives. Pricing opens at R339,999 for the Duster Evolution 1.0 Turbo 6MT, followed by R379,999 for the Duster Evolution 1.3 Turbo 6MT, R399,999 for the Duster Techno 1.3 Turbo EDC, R439,999 for the Duster Techno+ 1.3 Turbo EDC, and R499,999 for the range-topping Duster Iconic 1.3 Turbo EDC. All models are backed by a 5-year/150,000 km mechanical warranty, a 3-year/45,000 km service plan and 24-hour roadside assistance.
